Giuseppi Logan Quartet
Debut album recorded in 1964 with Don Pullen (piano), Eddie Gomez (bass) and Milford Graves (drums)." Logan on tenor & alto sax, Pakistani oboe, bass, clarinet, flute.
As the musicians filed into Bell Sound Recording Studio on the afternoon of October 10, 1964 to be recorded by engineer Art Crist. B had met Logan in the Cellar Café, as he accompanied Paul Bley on piano during the October Revolution. The session went smoothly. As B and Art Crist sat, enthralled, in the control room, a terrible noise suddenly erupted from the tape deck.. The tape had run out in the middle of a magnificent improvisation. When Giuseppi was informed of the mishap, he quietly asked the engineer to rewind the tape to a point shortly before the interruption. He and the group then picked up where they had been cut off, in a seamless flow of music that amazed B, as it disclosed underlying discipline, control and virtuosity.
